this past week we went to DC, there we went to the national zoo. We went to go see the snow leporad cage but the animals were not there. It was upsetting, we had seen every other type of animal, even if it was cold. Anyway, I learned today that the snow leporads and they had escaped!!! They had been sleeping out at the front of the zoo gates. Wow!! I was/am shocked!! Anyway.... it got me thinking, what are the most endangered speices out there? And how can we help them? And why are the endangered? Now I didn't answer the why and only somewhat of the how. But here is the what: Top 10 Most Endangered SpeciesAccording to the World Wildlife Federation (WWF) the top 10 most endangered species are: Black Rhino Giant Panda Tiger Beluga Sturgeon Goldenseal Alligator Snapping Turtle Hawksbill Turtle Big Leaf Mahogany Green-Cheeked Parrot Mako Shark Discounts for Accredited Non-Profit OrganizationsMany accredited organizations with similar interests have asked for donations or reductions in service prices. Not to offend any single group, the policy now adopted by ExtraValue Network is to give a charitable donation equal to 5% of the total purchase, exclusive of taxes and S & H (previous purchases do not qualify for this program). This donation will be by way of a credit to the organization's account after delivery and receipt of their goods or services, which should then be acknowledged with a charitable receipt by the organization to ExtraValue Network. Thank you for your continued patronage, and may you have even more success for all your untiring efforts. Sincerely,Allan Barkin, PrincipalExtraValue Network Wildlife Links If you would like to add your wildlife link with a brief description not to exceed 10 words to our site, we would be glad to recipricate the gesture, if you would link from your site to our World's Top 10 Most Endangered Species; complete guide. Miss.
Top Ten Books of 2006

Top Ten Books of '06 ABSURDISTANBy Gary Shteyngart. Random House, $24.95.Shteyngart's scruffy, exuberant second novel, equal parts Gogol and Borat, is immodest on every level - it's long, crude, manic and has cheap vodka on its breath. It also happens to be smart, funny and, in the end, extraordinarily rich and moving. "Absurdistan" introduces Misha Vainberg, the rap-music-obsessed, grossly overweight son of the 1,238th richest man in Russia. After attending college in the United States, he is now stuck in St. Petersburg, scrambling for an American visa that may never arrive. Caught between worlds, and mired in his own prejudices and thwarted desires, Vainberg just may be an antihero for our times. THE COLLECTED STORIES OF AMY HEMPELScribner, $27.50.A quietly powerful presence in American fiction during the past two decades, Hempel has demonstrated unusual discipline in assembling her urbane, pointillistic and wickedly funny short stories. Since the publication of her first collection, "Reasons to Live," in 1985, only three more slim volumes have appeared - a total of some 15,000 sentences, and nearly every one of them has a crisp, distinctive bite. These collected stories show the true scale of Hempel's achievement. Her compact fictions, populated by smart, neurotic, somewhat damaged narrators, speak grandly to the longings and insecurities in all of us, and in a voice that is bracingly direct and sneakily profound. THE EMPEROR'S CHILDRENBy Claire Messud. Alfred A. Knopf, $25.This superbly intelligent, keenly observed comedy of manners, set amid the glitter of cultural Manhattan in 2001, also looks unsparingly, though sympathetically, at a privileged class unwittingly poised, in its insularity, for the catastrophe of 9/11. Messud gracefully intertwines the stories of three friends, attractive, entitled 30-ish Brown graduates "torn between Big Ideas and a party" but falling behind in the contest for public rewards and losing the struggle for personal contentment. The vibrant supporting cast includes a deliciously drawn literary seducer ("without question, a great man") and two ambitious interlopers, teeming with malign energy, whose arrival on the scene propels the action forward. THE LAY OF THE LANDBy Richard Ford. Alfred A. Knopf, $26.95.The third installment, following "The Sportswriter" (1986) and "Independence Day" (1995), in the serial epic of Frank Bascombe - flawed husband, fuddled dad, writer turned real estate agent and voluble first-person narrator. Once again the action revolves around a holiday. This time it's Thanksgiving 2000: the Florida recount grinds toward its predictable outcome, and Bascombe, now 55, battles prostate cancer and copes with a strange turn in his second marriage. The story, which unfolds over three days, is filled with incidents, some of them violent, but as ever the drama is rooted in the interior world of its authentically life-size hero, as he logs long hours on the highways and back roads of New Jersey, taking expansive stock of middle-age defeats and registering the erosions of a brilliantly evoked landscape of suburbs, strip malls and ocean towns. SPECIAL TOPICS IN CALAMITY PHYSICSBy Marisha Pessl. Viking, $25.95.The antic ghost of Nabokov hovers over this buoyantly literate first novel, a murder mystery narrated by a teenager enamored of her own precocity but also in thrall to her father, an enigmatic itinerant professor, and to the charismatic female teacher whose death is announced on the first page. Each of the 36 chapters is titled for a classic (by authors ranging from Shakespeare to Carlo Emilio Gadda), and the plot snakes ingeniously toward a revelation capped by a clever "final exam." All this is beguiling, but the most solid pleasures of this book originate in the freshness of Pessl's voice and in the purity of her storytelling gift. NONFICTION FALLING THROUGH THE EARTHA Memoir.By Danielle Trussoni. Henry Holt & Company, $23.This intense, at times searing memoir revisits the author's rough-and-tumble Wisconsin girlhood, spent on the wrong side of the tracks in the company of her father, a Vietnam vet who began his tour as "a cocksure country boy" but returned "wild and haunted," unfit for family life and driven to extremes of philandering, alcoholism and violence. Trussoni mixes these memories with spellbinding versions of the war stories her father reluctantly dredged up and with reflections on her own journey to Vietnam, undertaken in an attempt to recapture, and come to terms with, her father's experiences as a "tunnel rat" who volunteered for the harrowing duty of scouring underground labyrinths in search of an elusive and deadly enemy. THE LOOMING TOWERAl-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11.By Lawrence Wright. Alfred A. Knopf, $27.95.In the fullest account yet of the events that led to the fateful day, Wright unmasks the secret world of Osama bin Laden and his collaborators and also chronicles the efforts of a handful of American intelligence officers alert to the approaching danger but frustrated, time and again, in their efforts to stop it. Wright, a staff writer for The New Yorker, builds his heart-stopping narrative through the patient and meticulous accumulation of details and through vivid portraits of Al Qaeda's leaders. Most memorably, he tells the story of John O'Neill, the tormented F.B.I. agent who worked frantically to prevent the impending terrorist attack, only to die in the World Trade Center. MAYFLOWERA Story of Courage, Community, and War.By Nathaniel Philbrick. Viking, $29.95.This absorbing history of the Plymouth Colony is a model of revisionism. Philbrick impressively recreates the pilgrims' dismal 1620 voyage, bringing to life passengers and crew, and then relates the events of the settlement and its first contacts with the native inhabitants of Massachusetts. Most striking are the parallels he subtly draws with the present, particularly in his account of how Plymouth's leaders, including Miles Standish, rejected diplomatic overtures toward the Indians, successful though they'd been, and instead pursued a "dehumanizing" policy of violent aggression that led to the needless bloodshed of King Philip's War. THE OMNIVORE'S DILEMMAA Natural History of Four Meals.By Michael Pollan. The Penguin Press, $26.95."When you can eat just about anything nature has to offer, deciding what you should eat will inevitably stir anxiety," Pollan writes in this supple and probing book. He gracefully navigates within these anxieties as he traces the origins of four meals - from a fast-food dinner to a "hunter-gatherer" feast - and makes us see, with remarkable clarity, exactly how what we eat affects both our bodies and the planet. Pollan is the perfect tour guide: his prose is incisive and alive, and pointed without being tendentious. In an uncommonly good year for American food writing, this is a book that stands out. THE PLACES IN BETWEENBy Rory Stewart. Harvest/Harcourt, Paper, $14."You are the first tourist in Afghanistan," Stewart, a young Scotsman, was warned by an Afghan official before commencing the journey recounted in this splendid book. "It is mid-winter - there are three meters of snow on the high passes, there are wolves, and this is a war. You will die, I can guarantee." Stewart, thankfully, did not die, and his report on his adventures - walking across Afghanistan in January of 2002, shortly after the fall of the Taliban - belongs with the masterpieces of the travel genre. Stewart may be foolhardy, but on the page he is a terrific companion: smart, compassionate and human. His book cracks open a fascinating, blasted world miles away from the newspaper headlines. ALL FROM: http://www.nytimes.com/ref/books/review/20061210tenbestbooks.html HAVE YOU READ ANY OF THESE? Miss. I thank everyone that writes comments, votes on the pole, and does something to help the world. Thank you all. Now for my note. Lately I have been seeing a lot of Advice Blogs. It is truely amazing how many people want to help others. But I have to tell you, I am not going to accept advice unless you've experienced it, or know a lot about it. For example: Many people say that if they were ever to smoke they would quit. But it isn't as easy as they say. Nicotine is drug that makes people addictive to it. The body gets used to it, and then, when they try quitting, the body resist. Headaches, stomach-aches, vomiting, and other things are the hardships of quitting. anyway, if you are going to have an advice blog, article, or webpage, do it on things you know or have experienced. That was my ADVICE for the day, Miss.
Recently I have gone through an event of not being picked for something that I deeply wanted. I was quickly depressed and almost full of tears. But I did a few things to help me get over my disappointment. 1. Occupy yourself. Read, watch T.V., sing a song, go to the mall, something to keep your mind off of it. 2. When your mind does wander to the disappointment, think of hte bad things that would have happened if you were picked. And think of the good things that have come of you not being picked. 3. do something to get you really tired and relaxed. Go work out for a while then come back and take a soothing bath. That way, when you are in bed, you wont have to think of it. 4. Stand in the mirror and talk to yourself. Sternly tell you that you were not picked for a reason, but instead you will find something better to fill your time. 5. talk to someone who will help you. Your parents, your best friend, your sibling. Make sure that they are people that know you and love you. 6. Do not eat unless you are ungry. Nine out of ten times people tend to eat (and I mean extreme eating) when they are disappointed or depressed. 7. If your depression continues, talk to a doctor. Sometimes a professional is needed to help you. I hope this helps anyone out there. I know these helped me.... Miss. Mint update**** I was reading comments and for sweatpky here is your comment. you are wierd I have to tell you, sweatpky.
Well I feel that I need to share this story with you. This morning I went to a High School and sat in the back of the class. It was morning, and I was waiting for the bell to ring, so that I may begin my work. As the bell rang and people scuttled into the classroom, the announcements came on. As in most schools, the first thing they do is say the Pledge of Alligance. As I stood to say my part, I noticed everyone stood, half of them raised their hands, and 1/4 of them acutely said it. All the rest stood and talked to their friends. Strange. Did they not realize that this was the Pledge was going on? Yeah that is it, they normally say it, they are just to tired. But as we sat down I turned to one of the students beside me, and I asked, "Does anyone stand for the pledge anymore?" She responded: "No. Most of them think that the country is not doing as it say, you know, with liberty, justise for all " This made me frown. I asked why, "Because bush isn't doing it for us. She turned to another girl and asked, do you know why we went to Iraq?" The otehr girl shook her head. Then the first student told me, "See... Bush is doing a bad job, there is no justice in this country anymore." And I was shocked. How could they think there was no liberty or justice? Jusitce meant fairness. Was their nor fairness in our country? Because on one man's actions we no longer see our country as what we had said. No liberty? May you not walk down the street and take a left turn because you are Free to do so? May you not have as many children as you want, write anything you want, speech of anything? It is crazy to think that our founding fathers went through so much trouble... for this? I was astonished. Still astonished. Will always be astonished. Tell me, is it like this at other high schools? Or is this school the only one? Miss. Mint

This was said in a comment- "Awesome poll, but I ask you, what good American would say to just leave it up to the president? That's not democracy, and it toatally goes against the constitution (I know, I'm such a yankee) but it's true, it's every Americans privelage to decide these things for themselves. The war in Iraq is a very contraversial isue it constantly haunts our minds our lives and most impotantly, our T.Vs, I mean, nombre de dios that's just crazy." I like this. Your input on polls really shows that there are people out there that care. As for the rest of us, I think we should all learn from this. The PRESIDENT can not be left with all the hard descions. He is only one person and has his own values and goals. Ruling a business is tough, ruling a community is harder, and worst of all is commanding a country!! Give the man some credit, then take the matter into your own hands. A country is based on the actions of the citizens with in it. So if you want the army of Iraq to get out of there, do something about it. Don't just sit there talking about it. But you have to realize that you must not think about your brother or husband in there, you must think of the nation. Would U.S.A. prosper if we took the army in Iraq out? Will anything happen to us in the furture is we do let Iraq be? Will the people in Iraq, that are 'good' people, will they be happy? Will many of them die because we left? Think about it. Talk about it. Then do something about it. One voice can change a crowd's views, and one crowd can change the nation's views. Miss. Mint

Here we are: HP3 and HP2- -try dresing up like Hargrid, use boots long baggy pants, a stuffed shirt, and a long waist coat. Be sure to add a curly black beard and wig!! -Dementors, never do people wear the bad person's clothes. Dementors are fairly easy, wear dark black boots and a long dark cloak with a hood. If you want, use black hose to cover the head and give a dark shadow. -Snape. Oily and creepy, good halloween costume. A dark wardrobe, long black hair, and loads of gell can make you into this character. -What I would love to see is a mother or an adult woman should dress up like Petunia. Yeah, I know, crazy. But completely funny and really easy. Go to a thrift store and buy a strangly patterened dress and a white apron. You might also want to get some heels and a row of fake pearls. Also, add a snotty additde and accent. Twilight- Since none of us have a velvet voice, perfect face, can run at the speed of light, and glow in the sunlight. The next best thing is the usual Vampiric costume. Teeth, make-up, and black. But in Twilight they wear other colors then black and they use make-up to accent their face. Do that, make yourself gorgerous, then add the teeth. Also, wear modern-day clothes. Bam, you and Edward will be hanging together soon. Avalon High- This is a tricky one. Since most of the characters in this book dress like 'normal' teens. I would suggest going with the "King Arthur" spirit thing. Like crowns, dresses, trousers, white shirts... That sort of thing. But if you REALLY want to dress up like the Avalon High characters, all you need is jeans, a shirt, and a sword. And you are set to go.

Yes since there was a tie between two, I decided to make it four. number 4: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban This book is a delight to read, and if you haven't read it all ready, then I suggest you give it a try!! Personally, I favored this one and number 4 and 6th above all the rest. number 3: Harry Potter and the Socerers Stone- I was surprised by this, most people tend to pick the later and newer additions to this delightful series, but I'll give it to you, this one began it all. number 2: Twilight- This extrodinary story is beyond wonderful. I was touched reading this story, and its sequel... but I can't wait for the third!!! Everyone needs to give this book a try. and for number 1: Avalon High- This surprised me the most. Sure I enjoyed this book when I read it, but I didn't think it was that good... but it is your opinion that counts. This book is a bout a new girl at a new school, called Avalon High, trying to fit in. But there are some unexpected surprises and plot twists that make this book what it is, number one. Now, next entry I will take the top four and aplly them to halloween costumes. That way everyone can dress up like their favorite character!!!

Well maybe not.. more disgusted. It also doesn't help that I was once a page.... If you don't know, here was one of the headlines from yesterday: Attorney: Clergyman molested Foley as teen POSTED: 8:35 p.m. EDT, October 3, 2006 POSTED: 8:35 p.m. EDT, October 3, 2006 Story Highlights: • Attorney says Foley was molested as a teen and is gay• Foley never had sexual contact with a minor, is not a pedophile, lawyer says• Report: Congressman had with teen before 2003 House vote• Newspaper calls for House Speaker Dennis Hastert's resignation WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (CNN) -- Former Rep. Mark Foley was molested by a clergyman when he was between the ages of 13 and 15, his attorney said Tuesday amid allegations that the congressman exchanged inappropriate e-mails and instant messages with teen congressional pages. Attorney David Roth said Foley had never had sexual contact with a minor and said any assertion that Foley is a pedophile is "categorically false." Roth would not release details of the alleged molestation, saying only that making it public "is part of Mark's recovery" and that Foley would discuss it further when he is released from a center where he's being treated for alcoholism and mental issues. It will be at least 30 days before he is discharged, Roth said. Roth added that "Mark Foley wants you to know he is a gay man." Though the attorney would not provide the religious affiliation of the clergyman who allegedly molested Foley, Foley lists his religion as Catholic, according to a congressional directory. "He continues to offer no excuse whatsoever for his conduct," said Roth, who spoke to Foley on Tuesday. "This was a life decision, not a tactical one made by others." Asked why Foley waited to divulge the alleged molestation, Roth replied, "Shame." Roth's announcement came shortly after ABC News published correspondences it said indicated Foley had Internet sex with a former page before going to a vote on the House floor in 2003. The network published a partial transcript on its Web site but did not quote the exchanges in which it said the congressman and the high school student apparently had orgasms. Former pages gave ABC News the transcripts, which were dated 2003, the network reported. The ongoing scandal erupted Friday when Foley, a Florida Republican, resigned amid questions over e-mails he allegedly wrote to a former page, asking the boy what he liked he to do and requesting a photograph. Roth said Tuesday that Foley was under the influence of alcohol when he wrote the messages. The teen forwarded the messages to a congressional colleague, calling the correspondences "sick, sick, sick." Soon after, instant messages surfaced in which Foley reportedly engaged in sexually explicit exchanges with a teenage male page. In one exchange, Foley allegedly asked the boy, "Do I make you a little read more at: www.cnn.com What do you think? Should Foley go to jail for e-mailing a BOY page? Do you think it was a joke on the boy's fault? Post a comment on your thoughts!!!

Personally I think either the beach house on stilts or move the entire city to higher ground, too. I don't think that we should make it to the way it was because of several reasons 1. what if another hurricane, worse then Katrina, hits? 2. there were several issues with erosion 3. I don't think another wall can keep Mother Nature from doing her worse. 4. Many people will never want to live there ever again, hurting the city. Anything else to say? By large margins, though, Iraqis believed that the U.S. government would refuse the request, with 77 percent of those polled saying the United States intends keep permanent military bases in the country. WHAT DO YOU THINK?? more at: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15036070/

For anyone that would like to kno: OPRAH SAYS HER LAWYERS OVERREACTED NEW YORK (Sept. 25) - Oprah Winfrey says her lawyers shouldn't have gone after the man who is trying to promote her as a candidate for president. Not because she's running, mind you. "I feel flattered by it," the 52-year-old talk-show host told The Associated Press on Monday. "My lawyers overreacted, I think, by sending him a cease-and-desist order because it really is a flattering thing." It should have been handled in a phone call, said Winfrey, who said she's thinking of calling Patrick Crowe of Kansas City, Mo., herself. Crowe has been campaigning to urge Winfrey to run for president for years, setting up a Web site that has its own campaign song. A month ago, Winfrey's lawyers sent Crowe a letter demanding that he remove her picture from his Web site. Winfrey's smiling face remained on oprah08.net Monday. Winfrey was in New York to promote Oprah and Friends, which launched Monday on XM Satellite Radio. In February, Winfrey signed a three-year, $55 million deal with XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. to launch her new radio channel, which joins her nationally syndicated television show and her O, The Oprah Magazine. XM Satellite Radio boasts more than 7 million subscribers. **************from: http://news.aol.com/entertainment/tv/articles/_a/oprah-says-her-lawyers-overreacted/20060925133409990001

So it seems that fall has yet come our way. Or well... it is almost here, on the 22 of Sept. So here is one of my favourite dishes in the fall: Pumpkin Bread 1 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. pumpkin puree 1/2 c. vegetable oil 2 eggs, beaten 1/4 c. water 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. allspice 1/4 tsp. cloves 1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional) Preheat your oven to 350. Sift together the flour, salt, sugar, & baking soda. In a separate bowl, combine the pumpkin, oil, eggs, water, & spices. Pour into the bowl w/ dry ingredients & mix just until all are combined - don't stir too much! Stir in the nuts, if you're using them (I like it better w/o the nuts). Pour into a well-buttered 9x5x3-in. loaf pan, bake 50-60 minutes until done in the middle. Remove from pan, cool on a rack. Keep wrapped in the refrigerator. Really good w/ cream cheese, or chopped walnuts in cream cheese. get more at: http://www.dianaskitchen.com/page/favorite/pmpbrd.htm

It just so happens that we were coming out of Walmart when we spotted an old yellow Model T pass us. And (gasp) we talked about it. Henry Ford, as you all well know, was the first to come up with a car company and the assembly line. The assembly line is a great way to use your workers, a faster and more efficeint method. But it seems that the Proud America has something to work up to now. The Japanese. They are better at the assembly line, today, then we ever will be. They make our cars, electronics, toys.... It is a little depessing to find so many things of yours made in Japan. But what can the U.S. do? Here, when we need computer help, we end up talking to someone who doesn't know English. Or when we start a new car dealership we can taken over by a Japense company. Now, I am NOT SAYING THAT THE JAPENSE ARE AD!!!! Because they are not, but th U.S. needs the help. We need to work, improve ourselves. It seems that we Americans have become a little lazy. So what are we to do? GOT ANY SOLUTIONS??

News Story

From newsweek.com The call came over Capt. Brad Velotta's radio with the audible clarity that only shocking news can bring. Shots fired, the voice said, with one soldier down, "shot in the head by a sniper." Velotta and his men jumped up from the chai-and-chat session in the home of a local sheik in Baghdad's Shaab neighborhood, just north of Sadr City. They had been discussing the role of Coalition forces, the purpose of the Stryker mission and even such concepts as war and peace. Now reality came crashing back in. "This is the kind of peace we were talking about," Velotta remarked ironically as he hurried out of the house. This account of that afternoon, and what followed at the hospital, is based on the recollections of NEWSWEEK photographer Lucian Read, who was embedded with the 4-23's Blackhawk Company. It was the 33rd day in what's been dubbed the Battle of Baghdad. It was the day when the battalion lost its first soldier, after having an almost unheard-of year with no deaths. It was also the day when Velotta's worst fear—the nightmare all leaders prepare for—came true. " This is the best opportunity to be killed," he had said the week before, noting the risk tended to be worst while a unit is new to an area. "The learning curve is steep." Now it had happened. When they heard the news, Velotta and his men sprinted down the street, keeping an eye out for the sniper. They piled into their Stryker armored vehicles and headed off in a convoy to the military hospital in the Green Zone. The men in Velotta's vehicle didn't know who had been hit. Names aren't said over the radio, only the soldier's battle number. "Who is it, who is it?" asked the unit's translator, an Iraqi man who had been with the 4-23 for over a year. Driving fast though the streets, they heard another, final, chilling call on the radio. It came from Capt. Patrick (Doc) Williams, a physician's assistant and the battalion's medic. A year earlier, on one of his first patrols in Iraq, Williams had saved the life of soldier who was mortally wounded. His efforts won him the Silver Star for Valor. "Based on the condition of the patient, we don't need to drive in a way that puts more people at risk," he said. Translation: the soldier didn't make it. more: War Stories: 4-23's First Loss in Iraq - Newsweek The War in Iraq - MSNBC.com

Well it seems that I have forgotten to update. And I truely meant to update about sept. 11th, but it seems that I got a little side-tracked (I was watching the presidental speach and then the movie after it). But I did check my comments. And I recieved very postive comments about the new law in Spain. I especially loved this on: you know skinny may be pretty but skin and bones just aint. --jlo I loved it!!! It is a bit catchy. Anyway, I was checking the never ending e-mails and I got this one (this isn't news or anything, just something to read): 1) New York City has 11 letters 2) Afghanistan has 11 letters. 3) Ramsin Yuseb (The terrorist who threatened to destroy the Twin Towers in 1993) has 11 letters. 4) George W Bush has 11 letters. 5) The two twin towers make an "11" This could be a mere coincidence, but this gets more interesting: 1) New York is the 11th state. 2) The first plane crashing against the Twin Towers was flight number 11. 3) Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9 + 2 = 11 4) Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers, was carrying 65 passengers. 6+5 = 11 5) The tragedy was on September 11, or 9/11 as it is now known. 9 + 1+ 1 = 11 6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number 911. 9 + 1 + 1 = 11. Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind: 1) The total number of victims inside all the hi-jacked planes was 254. >2 + 5 + 4 = 11. 2) September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year. Again 2 + 5 + 4 = 11. 3) The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 11. 4)The tragedy of Madrid happened 911 days aft er the Twin Towers incident. Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind: Now this is where things get totally eerie: The most recognized symbol for the US, after the Stars & Stripes, is the Eagle. The following verse is taken from the Quran, the Islamic holy book: "For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced: for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there was peace." &n bsp; That verse is number 9.11 of the Quran. Still unconvinced about all of this..?! Try this and see how you feel afterwards, it made my hair stand on end: Open Microsoft Word and do the following(TRY THIS FOR REAL) 1. Type in capitals Q33 NY. This is the flight number of the first plane to hit one of the Twin Towers. 2. Highlight the Q33 N 3. Change the font size to 48. 4. Change the actual font to the WINGDINGS 1 ****UPDATE JUST DID THE MICROSOFT PART AND IT IS REALLY CREEPY!!!!!!****

Now, in a comment I was told of this, and I wanted to see if it was true. Here is an article (that I have found) from www.mailonsunday.com : Skinny models banned from top fashion show Last updated at 13:33pm on 9th September 2006 Real women will breathe a sigh of relief: waif-like models are being pushed off the catwalk. Spain's top fashion show is banning skinny women from taking part to promote a healthier image of the event. However, it is unlikely to catch on. The organisers of London Fashion Week said they would not be introducing a similar rule. Organizers of Madrid Fashion week used a mathematical formula to calculate the models' body mass index - a measure of their weight in relation to their height. They found 30 percent of the women had a BMI under 18 and were too underweight to take part in the shows. Esther Canadas, Spain's most well-known model does not qualify because she is said to have a BMI of only 14. The decision was made as part of a voluntary agreement with the Madrid regional government. The Association of Fashion Designers of Spain. said in a statement it wanted models to project "an image of beauty and health" and shun a gaunt, emaciated look. Ryan Brown, a director for the Elite modeling agency in New York City said it was "very unprecedented." He welcomed the decision and said the fashion industry will certainly take note, although the rejection of thinness would have more impact if it had happened in a bigger fashion venue like Paris or Milan. What do you think?

Here is one of my all-time favorite books. I read it when I was around 13 so it is mostly in the teens section. But I do believe that grown-ups will read it and enjoy it just as much. East: From the Publisher:Rose has always felt out of place in her family, a wanderer in a bunch of homebodies. So when an enormous white bear mysteriously shows up and asks her to come away with him--in exchange for health and prosperity for her ailing family--she readily agrees. The bear takes Rose to a distant castle, where each night she is confronted with a mystery. In solving that mystery, she loses her heart, discovers her purpose, and realizes her travels have only just begun. As familiar and moving as "Beauty and the Beast" and yet as fresh and original as only the best fantasy can be, East is a novel retelling of the classic tale "East of the Sun, West of the Moon," a sweeping romantic epic in the tradition of Robin McKinley and Gail Carson Levine. Synopsis A young woman goes to the ends of the earth--and beyond--to rescue the man she loves in this sweeping epic. Five stars (dots) I give this novel, because it is just a splendid tale. I am all for a twist on the fairy-tales we know and love (like Beauty and the Beast) and this novel takes it to a whole new level. You will have yourself thinking, the next time you watch the movie, that this story is based on East. It is just THAT GOOD!! This book is best for ages between 10-18. But adults can read it too. It is also more of a female's book.

Kettle (or some other way of boiling water for making tea). Mixing bowl. Knife to mix with. Scales (or just estimate). Bread tin (about house-brick size). Greaseproof paper. Detailed Instructions Brew tea. Put dried fruit in the mixing bowl with the brewed tea (minus teabags). Leave to soak for a minimum of 2 h but preferably much longer, e.g. overnight or whilst out at work. Turn on oven to warm up to 175°C. Mix in the sugar, egg (shell removed) & spice. Mix in the flour. Line loaf tin with greaseproof paper. Put mix in tin. Bake about 1.5 h (it is ready when a skewer pushed into a cake does not come out with dough stuck on it). Remove from tin & allow to cool. Miscellaneous Serve sliced like a bread loaf (i.e. parallel to the smallest face) with slices about 1 cm thick and (optionally) spread with butter or similar. Don't overcook it because it does not taste nearly as nice when dried out & hard. It is also really delicious when sliced & eaten before it has cooled from the oven. It is succulently soft & moist at this stage and the butter melts into it. It can be made with less fruit or with white sugar which will be cheaper but is less tasty. **from http://duramecho.com/Food/IrishTeaCake.html**

I never realized that being on REd picks is so much work!! Every day I have been getting invitations to LOADS of other blogs, and I have been going to every single one of them. Some of them, I can't find, wont load, or are private (so please forgive me if you sent an invitation and didn't get a comment from me). There are also LOADS of comments. Some that are really rude, and I have deleted, while others are very kind and nice, still more ask questions. The main question I have recieved (and can only be expected) is 'How did you get on Red Picks?' So here is my answer: When I first began this blog, I took a lot of time into EVERYTHING!!! The profile, the name, the side title, even thr colors took time to think about and consider. Be creative and don't take others' ideas. second, I spent a lot of time advertising this blog. I went onto the boards and posted till I went crazy (or went out of ideas of how my blog was so unlike any others). I think I took up to about twenty posts. And each post was different from the rest, I didn't copy and paste. third, when writing I don't use names, I don't use pictures that could hurt, and I don't plagerize. Everything that I have gotten from others has either been told to you, and if not, I have put the website on my favorites. (there isn't much that I copy) fourth, I try to not write about myself. I write about things that people don't tend to pick up on, or need help on, or need to know, or might want to know. I told from the beginning that this wasn't about me, and stuck with the idea. fifth, I have waited a while. I think I started this blog in early August, so it has been about a month wait. Not to shabby. And that is about it. If you have a blog that you want me to visit, please post the FULL name of it, and the HRL (or address) to it. Many of you have given me the name of the blog, but I have been unable to find it. Thanks, Miss. Mint

Goverment

Now I am a strong Independent. I base my beliefs on George Washington, who said, long ago, that having Parties splits the country. And he is right. Although you may not see it in schools and maybe not at work, it is there. Sure it may not be a big deal when not surrounded by politians, but the line is there. Normally in state goverment the line is blurred and in local goverment it is not even known. But in the national goverment the line divides our goverment. It splits it in two, one republican, and the other democrats. And the line is more of a wall. People will not be friends with the other side. Even the pages (who are teens that work for the goverment for some time, helping out) are divided. It is so strange to think that our country is being run by TWO parties, not one single body. It is also very strange for younger people to even consider themselves a part of a party. Mostly they go with the party their parents were in, not knowing the reasons that make that Party DIFFERENT from the other. So I am here to help you decide on a party. This is supposed to be YOUR choice. It is YOUR views, values, and goals that need to be considered, not your parents, siblings, friends, or other peoples'. Just yours. So here they are. Republican: - they believe that American's know best how to spend their money, and should not pay high taxes. They believe that American's know better what to do with their money instead of the goverment. -they believe in little welfare. They believe that they should be shown how to work and given an oppotunity to work, rather then living off of welfare forever. -they believe that the people should hold more power then the goverment -very strong on security. -while the don't like war, the belive that war is sometimes nessacary to protect americans. -very storng about the war in Irag because they see radical islamic countries as a threat to america, for example, Sept. 11th. -Republicans believe in the freedom of religion Democrats: -they believe in higher taxes to fund social welfare programs -they believe that the goverment has a higher responsibility to take care of citizens that can't are are not working. -they believe that there is a very lopsided tax system that favors the wealthy -most do not support the war in Irag. They feel that that was not thr right war to be in -democrats strongly support the freedom of religion -democrats believe in bigger goverment -there are different ranges of democrats, meaning lots of views. Independents: -they hold a mixture of beliefs from both sides. I hope this helped!! If there is something I didn't add, please leave a comment about it.

I was asked why my blog is called "Tea Time" and I have a 'simple' answer. Back in older times, people would have tea time, around mid-afternoon. Tea time wasn't just a time to stuff their stomachs but to share things. To mingle, gossip, talk, correct, give tips, hints, etc. And that is why my blog is called Tea Time. I talk about everything!! I hope that explains it.

I didn't know this. No not at all. I made it to RED PICKS!! I can't believe it!!! And I didn't find out until some one commented me on it. Wow again. I am stunned. Never thought this blog was going to be such a big deal. Ok for today I have STRESS tips. Since many of you have just started middle school, high school, college or maybe your first "real" job; you may be experiencing some stress. Some tips to battle stress: use a way to keep track of things. Example: agenda for homework, planner for work, or a personal bullington board for papers, invitations, etc. find a time to relax. Even great scientists spent time relaxing. So later in the day take thirty minutes to an hour to do something you enjoy. Like a hobbie. This isn't ment for FRIENDS it is ment for YOURSELF to get you back in line. If you have a problem with too much homework, you might decide to change your classes. It is not healthy for people to be OVERLOADED with too much work. If stress is caused because you have too much going on, you may want to put somethings off. I am not saying to quit them, but to put them aside till you get your life in check. If you have stress because of the people around you (like teachers, friends, parents, coaches, etc.) you may need time. Say you need a little room to think. To reqroup. Or you may want to talk to them. Say you are having a hard time at the moment and need a breather. Meditation is key to a relaxed life. No I am not saying everyone should do this. No I am not saying that you should believe that meditation will cure everything. Because it wont. Meditation is a time to get some peace & quite. To stop and listen. There are many programs, CDs, DVDs, casettes, and other things that will provide you with info on meditation. Do you have stress because of something else? Leave me a comment and a way to talk to you about it.

From the simple $1.89 to the impossible $3-4 dollars per gallon, life has gotten a lot harder. 20 dollars go down the drain because of gasoline. Now there are a few solutions to help use less money: 1. Car pool!!! Have a buddy from work take you and then the next day you take them. Same way with school, use the bus. It is there for YOU!!! 2. When looking for jobs take into consideration how much money you are willing to pay to GO to work. 3. Humers are awesome but they make the rich go poor. Think about a sutible car that has GOOD OR EVEN GREAT gas mileage! 4. Stop at gas stations that are medium price. You must know that sometimes cheap gas stations have dirt and grim in their gas, which could damage the engine. 5. Save money. Do not go out every saturday spending your money, save some. The more you save the more you shall have later on.

Another one of a kind story. The Singer of all Songs: by: Kate Constable Age limit- from 11 and older. From the Publisher Calwyn has never been beyond the high ice-wall that guards the sisters of Antaris from the world of Tremaris. She knows only the rounds of her life as a novice ice priestess, tending her bees, singing her ice chantments, and dreaming. But then Calwyn befriends Darrow, a mysterious Outlander who appears inside the wall and warns of an approaching danger. To help Darrow, to see the world, and perhaps to save it, Calwyn will leave the safety of the Wall for a journey with a man she barely knows--and an adventure as beautiful and dangerous as the music of chantment itself. Five. And boy was it worth it. This beloved story by readers from around the world inspired me. It opened a door to a world so different from our own. Where chantments both rule the world and are feared of. This story is written so well that it will keep you up at night. A REAL PAGE TURNER!!! Now this book is mostly a female book. It has adventure, magic, passion, courage, and a young lady trying to find her place. I reccommend this to EVERYONE out there.
If it's not enough that the world is in chaos already over the war going on. We have to find terrorists trying to bring chemical bombs over to our country. Yeah you heard me. Right when we were finally settling back down from the Sept. 11 attack. And so America is right back up on the HIGH security. It has been raised to code ORANGE which means that you can not leave bags unattended during your stay at the airports. But that isn't all here is a new set a rules for your air travel: -no liquids, plastic bottles, soaps, lotions, etc. may be carried onto the plane. (in other words you can keep them in your other luggage, not on your carry-on stuff) -all bags must be X-Rayed!!! -Internationally- no carry on items. (not even a book, ipod, or purse) -with infants if you carry on baby formula they may make YOU check it to make sure it isn't poisoned. -YOU SHOULD ARRIVE THREE OR MORE HOURS BEFORE FLIGHT!!! That gives enough time with security and such. -Try to keep metals on your clothes limited. They will make you take off shoes, belts, earrings, watches, and other things like that. I hope these rules don't ruin your flight.
A teenage Oklahoma transplant learns she possesses otherworldly, time-dependent powers in this first nail-biting installment of author Scott Westerfeld's Midnighters series. After Jessica Day moves to Bixby, she enjoys popularity but also becomes the focus of a few sunglasses-wearing outcasts. Curious about all the interest from Rex, Melissa, Dess, and Jonathan, Jessica soon learns that it's not without cause: She is a "midnighter," a person who can move about during a magical, condensed 25th hour that begins at midnight. Jessica is fascinated at first -- especially when she learns she has special powers during the "blue time" -- but her interest turns to horror when her safety is threatened by ever-growing "darklings," shadowy entities that want to stop Jessica from discovering and using her gift. Luckily, the teen has her new friends to teach her about keeping darklings at bay, and when the five have a 25th-hour meeting in Bixby's legendary "snake pit" that quickly turns dangerous, Jessica finds that her untapped midnighter abilities are the ultimate threat to darkling survival. Packed with fascinating characters in a fast-paced story line, Westerfeld's The Secret Hour will keep you in suspense until the foreboding end. While Jessica seems to have remarkable wherewithal for someone who's just landed in such frightening circumstances, the author works with the creepy atmosphere and outsider characters to create an entertaining page-turner that provides a harrowing setup for Book 2. After putting this down, you might not be looking at the clock the same way again. Matt Warner A whopping five stars is what this novel recieves and deserves. A first in three, this book will get you off your toes and into the world of Jessica Day's. It is spellbinding, page turning, and most of all suspenseful. You will have to get the second right at the end of this book. This book is for people over the age of 12. Both male and females can read this. TRY IT!! **the above writing (before the stars) was from barnesandnoble.com

Today I am going to take a piece of writing that Marcus Tullius Cicero wrote. (He lived between 106 B.C.-43 B.C.) The Six Mistakes of Man -The illusion that personal gain is made up of crushing others. --The tendency to worry about things that cannot be changed or corrected. ---Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it. ----Refusing to set aside trivial preferences. -----Neglecting development and refinement of the mind, and not acquiring the habit of reading and study. ------Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do. Marcus Tullius Cicero Cicero was a Roman statesman and man of letters. Cicero was Rome's greatet orator and its most articulate philosopher. The last years of republican Rome are often referred to as the Age of Cicero. Cicero <<<

Now this book has been out for a while. And i read it during Spring, but I loved it. I think it needs an honorable deed. So I gave it first place in my Tea Time Reviews. KLIATT - Claire Rosser The author of The Queen of Everything and Honey, Baby, Sweetheart keeps up her funny, smart banter in this story of an impossible stepfather. The narrator is a 17-year-old named Cassie, who has watched her mother break up her family because of her devotion to a neurotic but genius violinist/composer. For several years, Cassie has been going back and forth between her father's home and her mother's. She loves her mother dearly and can't understand how she can put up with the nearly constant hysterics, paranoia, and verbal abuse emanating from her new husband, Cassie's stepfather. This is all relayed in a tragic-comic voice, with wonderful metaphors tumbling out of Cassie's mind. Cassie's mother rationalizes all by seeing her new husband as a tortured genius, who is mentally ill but capable of producing incredible beauty. Enter Ian, a gifted music student who must succeed in an audition to be admitted to a top music school. Cassie's stepfather takes Ian on as a student and that's how the two young people meet; however, the attraction they immediately feel for one another has to be beaten down and ignored because of Ian's upcoming competition and because the stepfather absolutely forbids their romance as a distraction Ian can't afford. Nothing like forbidden love to make a good story line! Entertaining without being shallow, this will have strong appeal as an outrageous family story. There is some swearing here and there, totally appropriate to the occasions described. KLIATT Codes: JS—Recommended for junior and senior high school students. 2005, Simon & Schuster, 298p., Ages 12 to 18. That was taken from Barnesandnoble.com I give this book a total five stars because it is worth your time. Although this is an older book for kids and a pretty young book for adults, I think it is worthwhile! It was amazing. It made you think. It was incredible. And not only that, but had great characters [so realistic] and a twist at the end. Also, you will never look at geniuses again. Please read it!!!

People in general are interesting. They are filled with ambitions, wisdon, knowledge, happiness, envy, sadness, hope, faith, genorsity, everything and nothing at all. Sure we humans act like we know and own everything. But do we? We create the best technology known and yet in doing so we destroy our planet bit by bit. We can understand how the plants make air and dogs bark, but we don't understand love and how it works. We may be able to grasp a think layer of love, but do we understand it fully? How it is cabable to make someone fall in love but kill the one they love, how is it able to make a man fall inlove without them ever even meeting? How is that so? We humans think that we are all knowing, but do we even use more then one third of our brains? Do humans truely rule the planet? Or is there something else? This is a descision that has meant arguements to it, and all of them ending in questions. I would like to take a moment to ask, are you thinking? Are you questioning the unknown? That was all for todays Tea Time. It was to make you think about human's worth and cababilities. To help you jump back from your ways of thinking that humans are the top of the web [the web of knowledge].

Hello and welcome to Miss. Mint's tea party. During tea time we give a moment to lose ourselves and the greatness in tea. As you can tell by my name, I love mint tea. It is one of my favorite drinks. It is also something we celebrate. But we don't do it in the regular broohaha that goes on. Oh no, we do it by drinking tea. And talking. Our conversations can range from the goverment to favorite books. Isn't that lovely? After all it is tea time.
