Just a few weekend updates:
First, coming just on the heels of my posting on the farewell to the HBO series 'John From Cincinnati,' the show's eponymous star (that would be John, played by actor Austin Nichols), was arrested on Saturday for allegedly driving under the influence.
Apparently, the actor was going the wrong way up a one-way street in Michigan and was over the speed limit. It's too bad he didn't have John-like superpowers -- or wisdom -- in real life to not 'allegedly' drink and drive – or least drive better.
Second, another case of surfers meet citizen activism:
Last week, I mentioned the Dr. Paskowitz's 'surfers for peace' story. This week, surfers are making headlines again, this time for staging an in-water protest against a new super ferry in Hawaii. I can't say that I know enough about the ferry project to offer an opinion – but it sounds like neither do the people of Hawaii, at least until an environmental impact report is completed.
